Information for Operatives

Following changes to the ACS criteria for Category 1,2 the following material must be read before booking courses.

Category 1

Operatives in this category must present evidence of their gas fitting qualifications and experience to the Assessment Centre when attending their relevant course.

Category 2

Applicants must provide evidence that they hold qualifications relevant to the area of gas work they are seeking to obtain certification in. These qualifications must have enabled competence to be demonstrated in the generic work activities.

In addition, written evidence must be given by the employer of "on the job" gas installation and/or maintenance gas work, carried out under the direct supervision of competent operatives employed by a CORGI registered business. This work must be directly related to the range of assessment to be undertaken.

Category 3

New entrants to the gas industrial, perhaps individuals embarking on a career change, who will be unable to provide acceptable evidence of work experience will be required to undertake the necessary study and training for NVQ Level 3 Gas Installation and Maintenance.
